Living in inner-city Melbourne, the built fabric is the backdrop is a blend of established and emerging architecture. I enjoy acting as a flaneur in my own city, as much as I do when I travel, wandering streets to enjoy street life and to admire constructed landscapes.

Melbourne has it’s fair share of iconic architecture amongst it’s well-trod streets and spaces, where real-life happens.

I was a part of the team at Cox Architecture not long after this iconic stadium was built. It is an urban masterpiece and celebrates Melbourne's sporting obsession.

Federation square is Melbourne's cherished public square. Adjacent to a transport node and backing onto the Yarra river, it celebrates public life and integrates a heritage cathedral into an emerging arts precinct.

I depicted docklands harbour using line, without tone or shadow, to highlight the spectrum of scale and form within the precinct.

Architecture beyond home

A global traveler, there is so much to enjoy in other places.

  • Singapore Kong Saik Road

    I lived in the Chinatown area of Singapore for a year and would walk along Keong Saik Road in my transit to work. The justaposition of the shophouses, then high rises, against a humid sky always stuck with me.

    This was a commission for a wine retailer, working with a palette of muted tones of elsewhere within central europe. An area rich with the romance of wine.

    In creating this illustration for a client I tapped into my inner country girl and luckily I am familiar with regional France and Spain where this picture is referencing. The built fabric of this landscape is centuries old and full of too many tales to imagine.

    Wee see these stone churches in many places of the world. There is so much to love about stone, drawing stone, and picking up on the iconic symbols of civic architecture.

  • Nuremberg

    Nuremberg, Germany

    A stunning town, it is tempting to focus on the tudor architecture when illustration the built fabric, and gorgeous vistas of this city, but I chose to focus on the more muted tones to draw out the human scale and often earthy pallete.

  • When land meets building

    Taiwan has some gorgeous architecture and it’s luscious greenscape extends beyond the ground onto buildings in some circumstances. People show the scale of this theatre building.
